The Diakonos – “The Masters Servant”

The Diakonos by Indy Hammered Knives is the very much anticipated chef knife (thank you all so much for your patience and for all of your ideas in this newest design!!)

“Diakonos” is Greek for the masters servant and no better name for the ultimate tool for the master chef!!

The Diakonos is:

  • 12 inches Overall – 7 inch Blade
  • 1/8 inches thick 1095 Hand Forged – Hammered – Polished Blade
  • 1095 High Carbon Steel
  • 58 RHC (Rockwell Hardness)
  • High Convex Grind
  • “Ergonomically Perfect” – So I’m told by those who have the title

    I bought two of these for my sons for Christmas. They are imply beautiful. They did just as I had asked and the choices of wood was very cool. I guess now I have to get one for myself. From what I have seen, I would get these knives while you can before the rest of the country knows what we know here in Indiana and the prices go up.

    Just purchased the chefs knife and like every knife I have bought from James it is a work of art. James is not just a knife maker but an artisan. This was my fifth knife I have purchased from James and I love each of them. If you haven’t bought one yet, go ahead and buy one you will be glad you did.

    After using the knife for about a month I am very impressed with the quality. It took me a little bit to adjust to the design of the blade vs. my other “cheap” knives, but have found over time I prefer the design of the Diakonos, vs my other knives. The weight of the knife allows it to glide through the material vs. a saw action of cutting. Very happy and recommend this knife for anyone who appreciates craftsmanship and function of their utensils.

    I bought four Diakonos and had them customized with the ancient emblem of our family’s clan. Each of the ladies absolutely lit up when they saw their knives, because they immediately picked up on the fact that they were the chef knife version of the custom hunting knives I bought for my son and myself a few years back.
