I have taken care of all the tricky parts of making a knife like forging the blade, hand grinding the razors edge, cutting the handles to perfect scales, cutting the brass pins and holes so alignment is perfect and there is no chance for gaps in your pins and scales.

    What do you buy for a guy who has it all, especially every knife known to mankind? A make-your-own-knife kit, of course! The blade was awesome straight out of the box. It was gorgeously crafted and quite sharp. The handle was fantastic – he can’t wait to mold it to the exact shape of his hand. The packaging was also impressive – the wooden box was manly and the filler gave it a nice, rustic feel. Overall, a great gift that he is still stoked about two weeks later. He showed it off to everyone! Also, the knife maker is super nice. This was an all-around great transaction.

    I purchased 1 complete skinner for my father and a kit for myself. I am very impressed with both. I ordered the complete knife with curly maple handles and also had the blade laser etched with Proverbs 17:6. “Children’s children are the crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children”. It was going to be a fathers day gift but was too cool to wait, my dad loves it. The kit I got for myself turned out beautiful, I highly recommend the desert ironwood. Its a little different to work with, it is hard and has a oily/waxy feel to it. It finishes very smooth and shiny but almost a little tack in your hand, it also smells wonderful. The overall quality of these knives is great. James was very polite and friendly on the phone and his passion shows through in these pieces of art.

    Slightly recovered from back surgery but I couldn’t wait anymore. Took me a week to do what would take me an hour or so. The burl handle came out beautiful using a couple of coats of tung oil, then buffed out. Well worth the effort and price! This blade will cut…

    The knife kits look top shelf. They are Christmas presents for 2 of my grandsons and once I am back from winter vacation we will put them together and finish them. I am excited for the boys to learn a little about building a knife they can carry with them for many years.
