This Oilskin Haversack is perfect for light scouts and day hikes. Perfect carry size, and a must for period reenactments. Heavy duty construction, double stitched, reinforced 1.5″ wide chest strap, repels water, and has an inner pocket under the flap.

What is Oilskin? Oilcloth, also known as enameled cloth or (in England) American cloth, was close-woven cotton duck or linen cloth with a coating of boiled linseed oil to make it waterproof. Historically, pre-Mackintosh, oilcloth was one of very few flexible, waterproof materials that were widely available. This is haversack is 100% waxed canvas and is 100% waterproof and virtually indestructible. Plus…..the more this bag ages the better it looks (check out the pictures of mine on multiple climbs in the Colorado Rocky 14’rs
